The British Standard BS5837 ‘Trees in relation to design, demolition and construction – Recommendations’ recommends steps that should be taken to ensure trees are successfully and appropriately retained during development. We specialise in providing consultancy services for all scales of development sites, including commercial and residential developments. The services we provide include:

  • Full BS5837 surveys carried out by our own in-house trained surveyors
  • Tree tagging
  • Detailed tree survey schedules
  • Tree location plans based on topographical surveys or OS plans
  • Categorisation and assessment of trees in the context of national, local and neighbourhood planning policies
  • Tree constraints plans illustrating the above and below ground constraints imposed by trees
  • Arboricultural impact assessments for evolving layouts and masterplans and recommendations for how any identified issues may be resolved
  • Liaison with engineers and design professionals to meet client objectives without unnecessary tree damage or loss
  • Liaison with local tree officers, many of whom we know well
  • Help with pre-application advice meetings with LPA officers
  • Tree protection plans
  • Arboricultural impacts reports for submission with planning applications
  • Preparation for and attendance at all levels of appeal should planning permission not be granted
